Clustering polar curves

چکیده
This essay builds on the idea of grouping polar curves 2-variable function germs into clusters. In topological category, one obtains a bijective correspondence between certain partitions quotients two topologically equivalent germs. We explain how this may be refined in Lipschitz category terms associated gradient canyons.

Infinitesimal Adjunction and Polar Curves
The polar curves of foliations F having a curve C of separatrices generalize the classical polar curves associated to hamiltonian foliations of C. As in the classical theory, the equisingularity type ℘(F) of a generic polar curve depends on the analytical type of F , and hence of C. In this paper we find the equisingularity types ǫ(C) of C, that we call kind singularities, such that ℘(F) is com...
متن کاملClustering in polar media.
Clustering prevails in water-soluble polymers and biological macromolecules. It has also been observed in polar solvent mixtures. The possible causes of clustering are discussed. A systematic investigation of clustering in poly(ethylene oxide)/d-water solutions has been undertaken using the small-angle neutron scattering method. The poly(ethylene oxide) monomer is formed of an oxygen atom and a...

Let (f, g) be a pair of complex analytic functions on a singular analytic space X. We give “the correct” definition of the relative polar curve of (f, g), and we give a very formal generalization of Lê’s attaching result, which relates the relative polar curve to the relative cohomology of the Milnor fiber modulo a hyperplane slice. We also give the technical arguments which allow one to work w...
متن کاملClustering of non-polar contacts in proteins
MOTIVATION Hydrophobic or non-polar contacts in proteins are important for protein folding, protein stability and protein-protein interactions. In particular, in the interior of a protein, in the hydrophobic core, a large number of such contacts are found. The residues involved in these contacts often form a tightly packed cluster of atoms. It is useful for the understanding of protein structur...
